Micro- and nanotechnologies, including microfluidics, (bio)sensing and (hybrid) integration of components and functionalities, are increasingly and successfully being applied in areas such as (bio)chemical analysis, molecular diagnostics, immunochemistry, cell sorting and analysis, drug screening and cell culturing, just to name a few.

In this talk we will present the latest advances in flow control enabling sequential capillary flow in fully autonomous Point-of-Care devices.

On the chip design and fabrication side we will show workflow automation for the chip and design process, also including micro-to-micro and micro-to-macro fluidic and electrical interfacing.

Finally, we will show examples of glass packaging of MEMS sensors or other sensitive devices, using a number of (low temperature) bonding technologies, enabling hybrid material combinations and wafer level packaging.
