Principal Metals Engineer,
Vinny Deluca is a Principal Metals Engineer at Medtronic’s Minimal Invasive Therapy Group (MITG) located in North Haven, Connecticut. He joined Medtronic (formerly Covidien) in 2011. Vinny currently works in a new product development role serving as a technical interface between R&D design teams and Medtronic’s supplier base for metal components that are used in Medtronic’s minimal invasive surgical devices. At Medtronic, Vinny provides early Design For Manufacturing feedback to R&D project teams for metal components, performs design reviews for supplier component tooling, and participates in metal component part qualifications using APQP/PPAP principals. Vinny has close to 22 years work experience holding various positions in product design, manufacturing, and quality. Prior to joining Medtronic, he worked as Supplier Quality Manager for an Ingersoll Rand Security Technologies facility. Prior to Ingersoll Rand, Vinny spent seven years working at a Tier 1 automotive supplier (Timken- formerly The Torrington Company) as a manufacturing project engineer for mechanical linkages (Column Shafts and Intermediate Shafts) used in automotive steering systems. During this time he was exposed to modern day component manufacturing processes including progressive stamping, station punch and die, welding, machining, broaching, insert injection molding, tube forming, powder coating, and light assembly operations.
