Medical device manufacturers often view design controls and human factors engineering as separate or parallel design processes. But research has shown that the
integration of human factors and usability engineering throughout your company’s design control procedures will enhance device performance, help identify and mitigate use errors, and optimize end users’ interactions with the device. In this session, participants will learn how to integrate human factors into design control processes and comply with AAMI standard TIR59.

Topics covered include:
  • Identifying interactions between users’ perceptual and cognitive abilities, use environments, and product safety
  • Determining which human factors methods to use throughout the product development process
  • Appropriate techniques to ensure successful validation studies
