Felipe Castañeda is an industrial designer and the creative director at MakerBot. He has extensive knowledge of 3D printing technologies, digital prototyping, and emerging trends in 3D design and materials science. Felipe is MakerBot's lead researcher studying the relationship between designers and their tools, and is part of the team that designs and tests MakerBot's 3D printers.
Prior to MakerBot, Felipe was a senior designer at Steelcase. Inc., where he handled product conceptualization, digital prototyping, and research development for integrated technology projects, such as capacitive sensing, sensing in space, Internet of Things, and digital manufacturing. He also worked at architectural firms and international corporations where he handled product, brand, and concept development for international clients.
Felipe graduated from Tecnológico de Monterrey with honors with a bachelor's degree in Industrial Design, and received a master's degree in Business Innovation from CEDIM: The School of Design.
